Clean. Crisp. Creative.
Creating and maintaining a professional online presence must include the following three things:
1. Attention to detail
2. Original content
3. Stimulation
First, attention to detail mostly involves an overall design concept. Before getting started on your online content, think about how it will be perceived by your audience. Now that most everyone has a smartphone, what does your mobile platform look like? One thing I like to do before posting creating a page or posting content is send it to myself. On most social media platforms, you can choose to make a post "private". This gives you a good chance to see how it looks in your feed and on your page before the public sees it. Often times, you don't see a mistake or, far less, a design error until you encounter it just like your audience would.
Second, in your cross-platform efforts, try to create original content for each platform. Yes, that is a lot more work when you can just say "link my Instagram profile to my Facebook account", but seeing the same content in two formats is a great way to lose audience members. Change it up. Keep it fresh!
Finally, your content needs to make the audience feel like they need to respond. A well-placed question or poll can help your audience interact with you. If your audience interacts with you, you can start to reach them.
Without just one of these, your overall online presence starts to fail. It takes just one off-brand comment to lose people.
